Photography affiliations?

hi all,

new to the forum!

i was wondering if photographers who charge for their services are required to be members of a society or institution, similar to accountants (NZICA) and lawyers (Law Society)?

is there a national governing body for photographers?

just trawling thru various photo websites and they all seem to be members of the NZIPP?

No they are not required to join a affiliated group, the ones that do see some benefit to it.
The group has no control, or responsibility over the photographer, except kicking them out if they bring the group into disrespect

Although not required, being part of NZIPP does give clients more confidence and gives you more credibility.
