Choosing my 1st SLR

I'm really keen to get into photography and want to purchase an SLR but I need some advice on what to buy and whether to buy new or second hand (trade me).
Also, can anyone recommend any good courses in Auckland so I can learn how to use it?
I will mainly be photographing scenery whilst travelling.

there are heaps of threads on this topic. have a look under camera talk, there is some good advice on getting your first dslr :) save time typing it all out again .... cheers
