A mate of mine runs Outlaw Imports down here in the great 04 and is getting an array of camera-mounts in. Only got the CZ1 Uber-kit and basic suction-mounts in-stock at the moment, but take a look at the above link for other bits he's getting in.

Tempting to grab one of those suction cup mounts, but to be honest I don't know if they look strong enough to handle a decnt sized DSLR and lens while boucing around during driving. Do they provide any sort of guarentee for the cost of damage to the camera if the mount should fail?

I've used a suction cup design (german brand) attachment for a canon powershot, mounted on a jetboat, it shot beautiful videos, way better results when compared to hand held.
I would say if the surface it is mounted on is good like glass or a flat piece of metal with good even finish, its probably safe. but if you worry about expensive equipment going to waste if it were to fall out... try just use a cheaper recording device.
I think I will want to try having a camera permenently mounted on my motorbike when i go traveling in Asia... have it capture timelaps shots of 3-10mins inbetween shots. for canon users, go download the firmware hack that will unlock all sorts of fuctions not found on ur standard factory installed firmware. http://chdk.wikia.com/wiki/CHDK
