So you're probably wondering who created Photographers Online NZ and the story behind it.

Photographers Online NZ was started by two mates David and Talan. The idea to create the website started when we wanted to improve our terrible photography skills. We were those (slightly ignorant) :p people who purchased digital SLRs thinking we would take amazing photos with very little effort. How wrong were we! Sure, our photos were an improvement from the ones taken from our point and shoot cameras but we still struggled with our technique and post processing. Our busy working lifestyles meant we had no time to enrol in photography classes. We couldn't really get advice from arty people or photographers simply because we weren't mates with any!

We always had the belief you can learn (almost) anything on the internet. Naturally, we Google'd around to find websites for tips, tricks and tutorials. Once in a while we would meet up, share all the knowledge we had picked up and practice what we had learned online. Our skills definately improved, however, we had one frustration -- there wasn't an effective communication medium for photographers in New Zealand.

And this is how the idea of Photographers Online NZ was conceived. Our goal is to create an online medium for photographers in New Zealand to interact and share knowledge with each other. And by the term 'photographer' we don't mean you have to be any good at photography or own a fancy camera. We want a place where photographers of all levels can fit in, interact and build friendships both online and offline with others who share a common interest. Most importantly, we want you to use these forums as a tool to improve your photography!

We really hope you enjoy being a part of these forums.
