hey,
something I put together yesterday. Shot on Friday, decided to limited my self to an area near the stairs in small park near auckland uni campus, and get as many individual shots as possible.

Technically they are all fine, but not particularly interesting to me. The first is the best of them though. I find the back side tends to be the least interesting part of a persons head!
The stairs one.. what were you looking for in that one? I like stairs beause they can be fun, tell a story or project the focus towards a 'secret' or something not immediately obvious. These are just stairs though. Last one kinda goes there but to no real effect.
Just thinking out loud - I know the park so this might not even be possible, but from what you have already (dark wooded area with people moving, somewhat blurry) I would try to go to 'the next level' (god that sounds wanky) and project an image of the serene unmoving nature with the hubbub of the bustling (and very blurry) populace scurrying about. Or not, it just feels like you're halfway to that already with these so yeah...

I was using a ND filter!!! Though I wanted the small DoF . . . But its only a NDx8 (3 stops?) one - the 10 stop is a wee bit out of my budget - this one is a secondhand Hoya, but cost enough!!

the stairs one - i liked the line of stone between brown dead leaves and fresh green living grass . .

I was using a ND filter!!! Though I wanted the small DoFI'm not seeing a small depth of field: the one on the left looks infinity-focussed (so massive amplification of DoF), the right one looks around F5.6, and the centre one looks F... 3.5-ish at shallowest.
What gear were you using for the shots?

middle was f/2.8 on a 50mm 1.8 (went for 2.8 because colours are at their best there for that lens IMO)
Other two were a shitty kit lens - the 28-80mm f3.5-5.6 (shudder) set to like 6.5 or so to try get a decent image from a crap peice of glass but had to use it as I needed the zoom for people (its my longest lens except for some big manual m42 glass), as they were candids - though I did ask the runner on his next lap if he was okay with being in a photo. Thats the first time Ive had the balls to ask someone haha - every other time I just dont take the photo but wish I did ask.
