What have you MacGuyvered? I gave myself 20 minutes to make myself some camera accessories, and managed to make a range of filters, a lens hood, a retarded pinhold adapter and an ND filter, haha...
Some were just dumb, but I found a couple of trick that I'm damn proud of myself for. Even if I look completely stupid, lol. Here's one of tonights images, fresh off the camera, contrast adjusted and obviously cropped bit that's it...

Does repairing (well, sort-of) a 200mm M42 screw lens count? It was in about 5 bits and missing a screw when I got it.
Even then I haven't repaired it fully - if I focus it past infinity the lens falls apart :D

I took my 18-70 apart and then put it back together. It worked! The first time....

Totally counts.
I made a lens hood out of a tin can, lol... Got some raised eyebrows as I stood next to a man with his huge lens!
I made filters out of sunglasses too. Although, we still need to use them, so I got to look even cooler holding sunglasses up to my camera - the best shots came from my husband's snowboarding goggles, haha...

OK So that just totally gave me an awesome idea I NEED to try out.
I've got a pair of old surplus Swiss military snow goggles - tie-on jobbies with dark olive-green lenses. I am soo trying those as a filter :D
EDIT: The Goggles (obviously)

I should have cleaned them first :embarrassed:
Shot-setup in the spirit of DIY: Canon 350D, Av, 0Ev, heavily-cropped Sigma 30mm 1.4 @ f3.2, on a white box on my bed with folded-over bits of A4as the "sides" to the "whitebox", lit with a overhead Tungsten light and a Diana F+ flash with hotshoe adapter, softened by a sheet of A4 held over the unit. Zero post other than crop & resize. We don't need no steeenkin' whitebox!

I tried all sorts of things, including a casserole dish lid.
I am *all* class, lol...
