I am set on getting this lens after spacemonkey pointed me towards it, however after endless research i cannot decide whether i should get the newer VC version or the older non-VC version.

many people have said the VC is softer and from this http://tinyurl.com/ye6bs8q it seems that way, but others say VC is fantastic for slow shutters and is sharper than the old version.

I thought a fast lens like this wouldn't need VC and so i was set on the older one but after further research VC is apparently a great addition to this lens and the build quality is better etc...

has anyone worked with either lens? any advice would be fantastic.

price is not a problem. cheers

I havent used these lenses , but if i had the option between the vc and non , or VR and non, or IS and non, id go for the image stabilizer any day, if my budget could afford either.
