View Full Version : Forum unread status incorrect

Every time I come to the forum (logged in as myself) it shows various sections as having new replies. Except they don't, and several in fact show the last post there being my own.
Just wondering if anyone else is seeing the same issue. It's really annoying!

The ones I frequent don't seem to have the issue. And I can't always know if there is anything new or not, so just clearing it doesn't really fix the issue :(

i think the problem occurs when you don't go through the correct process of clearing the thread...
e.g if you hit back instead of navigating through the site correctly. I did a quick test and it seems to work if you navigate through the site correctly so the server can actually register you have visited the thread.

That's a huge pain in the arse. I don't accept that im browsing the forums 'incorrectly' by using the back and forwards buttons - other vBulletin forums manage just fine.
I'm not really here to argue about it, just to report an annoying behaviour :p

I just like things to work as they should, so I was pointing it out.
If my car says it's in neutral and I start it I don't want it lurching forward into an old lady because it was actually in gear.
yes that's right - if you don't fix the forum I'm going to drive over you

But if you had it in 1st, put it in neutral and then hit that back button you would expect it to be in 1st and lurch forward after turning your car on. yes? yes :)

Haha yeah, well that is the problem.
Imagine if you did some online banking, transferred some funds. Once complete you use your browsers back button, or just close the browser - should the transfer be reversed?
My point is that the fact that I'm viewing a thread should mark it as read. Having to 'properly' exit the thread to mark it as read makes me cry on the inside.
I won't post on this any further because I might well be alone in my views. I just wanted to raised the admin attention to the issue.

Uh, why would you double-click anything within a web-browser?

Hmm I have never really noticed this issue or been bothered by it. Normally I just look at the time of the latest post.
