a photo can be technically yukko but still appeal. I took this image of my wee girlie today, and I know it's wrong in so many ways, composition, focal point, all sorts, but I still really like it. In fact I think it's one of my best.. But I don't know why, lol...
Anyway, I thought I'd share it. I know it won't be everyone's cup of tea, hah...

90% of great shots are made by following "the rules"; that last 10% are make by smashing the rules to bits.

Even if it was all out of focus it would be an excellent shot.
Sometimes a photo is better because of it's flaws - can 'feel' so much more, give off a vibe or emotion. if anyone ever comments on any technical flaws just ignore them - photography is art and you decide what the objective of every photo is :)
I really like it.

rules mean nothing. that photo is great, one of the better photos I have seen on here.
edit: maybe not one of the better photos, but one of the more interesting ones.

Aww, thank you, you guys are too lovely. I think I'm so used to delivering a product (I work as a photographer, people have expectations etc) that I sometimes forget to embrace my creative self, lol..

You are so right Lou - sometimes rules need to be broken to give an image your own personal style, and add some flair. I post on another forum where the "rules" are soooo strict and everything has to be "perfect" - and sometimes that feels really limiting.

Who needs to be picky? I like the mystery of the picture.
An Aussie friend (FRPS) whose work I admire, states flatly that "There's no such thing as 'composition'."
