Hi I've played around with actions a little in Photoshop.

I have question. I have a PSD file which has many layers. I want to turn the creation of these layers into an action. Is there a way I can create an action using existing layers or do I have to create the action from scratch, step by step?

Im using Photoshop CS3

Cheers

I am afriad that you have to create an action from scratch. In some of the other Adobe apps you can convert the history panel into command (which is another name for action) but that functionality does not appear in PS

The nearest I can get is taking a snapshot of the history, selecting a cleared history (aka blank document) and recording an action which then loads that snapshot.

This all falls apart on a new document though, as the snapshot does not exist.

I don't think any of that really helps at all though

Hmm I'll give it ago. For some reason I always thought Photoshop had similar functionality to Lightroom

For some reason I always thought Photoshop had similar functionality to LightroomIt can do - if everything you do is through adjustment layers. That's the only practical way to do non-destructive editing in photoshop (IMO)
