Some really good pics here, but the colour looks a bit too yellow? If the yellow was removed and the curves altered to give the images a bit more 'pop' I think there would be some exceptional images.
Great sense of action in some of them.
They are all low res linked from photobucket...i'll have to drop them onto flickr...

Some cool photos. It looks like you've caught some burning exhaust making it's way out the tail pipe on the photo of the focus.

Most of them look out of focus/blurry to me...

The last set of images are way to big, i gave up looking at them , as i had to scroll down and across.
The ones i did see, looked too hot.

Yup was shooting at around 1000-2000, didnt pay too much attention to it really.
If people want to complain about noise then they are free to, i'll let them enjoy their blurry/plastic looking pics :p

Cool tones! Awesome perspective, it looks like you were close to the action :) Might be the last NZ WRC event :(

i was just wondering, i noticed some photographers on the event like this uses a lot of noise on their photos, why is that? i do like them but i prefer it if its sharp.
good photos by the way i love WRC and motorsport as i got my own Subaru STI. I missed out on this one because of work but my friend borrowed my camera but didnt know what to do with as she is used to a point and shoot

Which one's are lacking in sharpness (beyond the ones artfully out of focus :P )? The noise is a result of the high sensitivity required to freeze the action of very fast cars passing at very close range

not a pro or wanting to say I know better but could you not have used a faster shutter to freeze the action? I thought high ISO was normally used because there isn't enough available light?
WRT lacking focus..the first set of shots don't look too sharp on here but that may be as a result of compression??

Motorsport is about speed, you need to convey it in the photo (at least, i like images that do)...
Photos below were taken at 1/180th...

Those photo's look way too bright, and 1000-2000 is way, way too fast a speed to be shooting; try between 60-200, but you will have to track the motion.
If you want static shots, use around 500...

How many of those were tracked as the vehicles were passing within 2 meters? :P

Sorry I took all my photos wrong then :embarrassed:
Yep...:p
It would pay to be a bit further away than 2m, or have a much wider lens.
If your that close, then you loose a lot of framing options and are limited to extreme close ups.
Also, the images are very washed out (over exposed) and the grainy look is reminisant of very old rally shots from the 70's.
A lower shutter speed will give some sense of movement too, rather than looking like its just sitting there.
Admittedly, unless your an official photographer, it can be hard to get a good spot to photograph rally (what with hundreds of fans all trying to out do each other and you by holding cell phones out at arms length).
