Korimako (Bellbird) Fight

I don't know what was up with these two male Korimako (Bellbirds) but can only guess that it was over a woman. I had been sitting photographing Hihi at a feeder at Karori Wildlife Sanctuary when these two turned up and started scrapping on the forest floor right at my feet.

It as extremely difficult to shoot in the low light when they were rolling about in a flurry of feathers, but I just had to try and capture the strange spectacle.

The fight went for well over a minute!!

Wow savage. I looked at the photos before reading your description. Thought you took some photos of some dead birds :). Seems like everything worked out ok in the end. Maybe women just aren't worth fighting over? :D
