I'm very new to all this, hope to learn quite a bit :)

And will be looking for recommendations for a new DSLR at some stage during the year :)

I haven't got anything fancy, but have got a Canon EOS300V...yes I know film :P

Anyway hope to learn lots :)

Hey, welcome to the forums. IMO you should get a cheap point and shoot and practice with digital photography first, play around with PS and all that. Then you can step up to RAW image processing and will already have the basics down.

Whats your budget and how much canon stuff have you got now?

i started off with film and the transition to dslr's was weird cos you can take such an out of contrast, colour, etc pic and you can make it look good so easily..if you want to stick with canon id suggest getting a 400d or a rebel or if you wanna save money and go for the big but good priced stuff go for a canon 40D..bigger body and much nicer than the 400d
