Shortly I'm going to be cycle touring for 6-12 months with infrequent access to computers. Last time I was away I copied photos from my camera directly to my Ipod with a cool little interface device, it worked really well. Though I did have trouble with the ipod and it does risk being stolen.

This time round I was thinking that since sd is so cheap now I could just clone my camera card each day on to a backup card. That way the photos are stored in two places, so if my cam gets stolen I may still have my photos and also if the card fails I have a backup.

Does anyone know of a small light device that I could copy photos from one sd card to another?

Cheers

if you're going to be buying more cards, it would be better just to have lots of small ones, then if disaster hits a card, only a few images are shot.

ALternatively, a cheap netbook might be a better idea. You can get one for like $300 which would be good enough for backup, albeit a bit slow to copy (low CPU and ram usually). Bonus is you can see the images on a larger (yes yes, its still small though) screen than on the camera, and maybe even do some simple editing and upload to net if you can get a connection via mobile or hostel.
