View Full Version : Image denoising using multiple motion compensated images.
I've been playing around with blending multiple images to reduce noise and this is what I came up with. It works even with some movement and parallax between images.

This is a great technique. I'm going to try it out sometime. Probably wouldn't work for anything that moves but aside from that, it looks to give excellent results.

It can get confused with movement, but can be quite good if the movement is not too far. I tried it on the series of acrobats in the purple suits here:

The top acrobat was not so good, but the bottom guy was surprising good after a little clean up. The background cleaned up really well.
Using it with trees on a windy day does not work at all. Although I am shooting at about 2fps. If you are shooting at 10fps, you'll have less movement between shots and then it may work much better.
