for a newcomer yes. But not if you already have used a SLR or dSLR

Yeah Ive only recently started photography and bond and bond let me take the 1000D for a 4 day test drive I came back and got a 450d which for the $200-$400 more I think is worth it. allthough the 1000d is still good the 450d just has a bigger lcd 12.2 mp instead of 10.1 and the image processor is slightly better also color depth for the 1000d is 12 bit and 450d is something like 14, but still i used the 1000d for a wedding and it went great. i just chose to spend a little bit more money for a few more benefits :)
