Here are a couple of pics from my last two car shoots. Still haven't gotten around to setting up a rig, but I'm sure I'll have time to experiment soon.
Have got some pretty rad work coming up in February, and wanna have that on lock.
Hope you like!

3rd and 4th are spot on, love them.
In the first one the background is great, but the underexposed, flatly lit foreground is a bit of a let down. The car itself is lit well and this would probably work with a brightly coloured car, but it all ends up pretty subdued with the background stealing the show imho.
The 2nd one has awesome exposure and cool colours and tones, but the composition feels a little off. The little blip of roof encroaching into the horizon looks a little sloppy, the scene adjacent to the car, the waves and the rocks feel a bit busy, my eye drifts from the car to the waves to some stones, back to a bit of car rather than staying a bit longer on the car. I think this shot could have worked better from higher to stretch out the ocean a bit and raise the horizon, or from lower to cut all/most of the sea out and have the car looming against the sky. Also in the 3 shots with overcast skies, the sky's are awesome :D

thanks for the feedback guys.
as for shot one Bigelboe, you're right, and it's a shame that the foreground is flat. But as you can imagine, when the sun is that low, and you're dealing with time in minutes, you gotta take what you can get. the foreground was more than a few stops under the background, so using grad filters i managed to bring it back under control. However, when the foreground is in the shade, and your flashes do nothing on black, you gotta make the most of it.
A brightly coloured lambo would have been all the difference, but I had to make do with an R8 ;)
As for shot two, you're right again.
alternative?

bigelboe pretty much said it all, just with the first one, i'd darken the side to almost the same as the front bumper. That way it would remove most of the refections and help 'highlight' along the length of the car :D
Love the Porsche shots! What were you using for lighting? if you dont mind me asking

Yeah the mad rush to get all the angles and views you want in that awesome light just before the sun goes completely is always fun.
Maybe a straight on shot from lower would have worked there to minimize the real estate of the foreground. Getting the car against that cool mountain in the background might have worked. But if you needed some environmental front 3/4 shots or whatever, as you say you were limited. Where is that location? Looks quite spectacular. Maybe some form of high speed sync might have helped you kill the ambient a bit more here?
That alternative is much cleaner, although I might have gotten a bit closer, and gone a bit wider just to give a hint of distortion to exaggerate the car a bit, the normal perspective from 45mm is, well, normal  Thats really a person thing tho. Also I would clone out that stick :P

The second photo really appeals to me overall, but the angle of the Audi in the first one is better IMO - the reflections showcases the curves really nice
For the porsche, I like the second one more for some reason - more dynamic?
They are all awesome shots thoiugh - I just prefer certain ones
