Do you guys know of any shops or anywhere that buys and sells lenses?
I have a brand new Canon EF75-300mm f/4-5.6 III that I doubt I will ever use, and I want to either sell it or trade it to get a nifty 50.

Honestly and this does not just concern camera gear this is every thing from TV to computers, your best bet is trade me your more likely to get the price you want , shops tend to under buy so they can make a profit or its just not worth it

You might be able to do a trade in but even then you will probably get ripped

I'm surprised you needed to ask that :D

Trademe really can't be beat - and I've both bought and sold a number of lenses and cameras on trademe.

If you're desperate to go to a shop, photo and video international in christchurch have a selection of second hand goods.

I can recommend these guys - bought a used 30D from them a couple of weeks ago via their site and it arrived promptly, well packaged and in very good condition. It was a good price too, better than some on trademe.

progear only if you bought it from them originally.... otherwise there's no point..... they'll not offer you a good trade in price

I think I'm going to have to credit my TM account and sell it there, www.photo.com offered me $80 for my 75-300mm

just try sell it on here :P

but seriously, im finding it quite hard to sell anything for a decent price on trademe at the moment. Everyone expects to find a bargain there... but just be persistant and keep relisting it and the right buyer will come along... think of economics, demand, supply and the magic hand :D
