a 50mm Prime thread

Hi all,
thought I'd contribute and start a thread

This is a place to post pictures taken with a 50mm prime lens, such as the nifty fifty (canon 50mm f/1.8), but any 50mm lens can do! Subject can be anything, just as long as the lens is a 50mm prime lens.
NB: thread idea borrowed from another forum (international one) which I belong to, and am keen to see some NZ takes on it

hey jake - is the greenery at the bottom grass, or a hedge? I cant make my mind up, because the skater has no shadow on the grass. Yet if it was a hedge, it seems to extend all teh way to the steps . . . and there is a white stripe on it? Just seems really trippy to me haha

The steps are awesome grungyness - like the red rusty color on the left in particular.

It's a 50mm f1.8 II. I'm sure I shot it at f1.8 on the busy streets of Mong Kok in Hong Kong.

Thanks to this thread I ordered a 50mm f/1.8 today, now comes having to wait a week for it to get here :eek:

Oh and if any of you are looking to buy one try and get on the good side of someone who works at bond and bond or noels, I got my 50 for less than $150 staff!!

Hey phallex - is that the 1.8 or the 1.4? really nice shallow DoF with the finger being blurred and face pinsharp. A nice "portrait:" :P

Thanks nathanbarlow! I use the Nikon 1.8.

The weather was terrible and rather dim so the lighting wasn't that great, also slowing down the shutter speed quite a lot.
