I've been trying to get some decnt photos of some workmates doing jumps on their mountain bnikes, but I'm struggling a bit to get anything good. This is my bnest attempt so far anyway, let me know what you think:

If anybody has any tips I'm all ears. That was using flash by the way.
I'd like to try a fisheye but they are pretty pricey...

Not bad :D, i'd crop the bottom to get rid of a few distractions or colone out the thick white line near the bottom.
Also with fisheyes is that on a cropped sensor the effect is suppressed compared to a full frame camera. Not sure if you can get ones made for cropped sensors

Id look at getting the flash off camera, i first had a Nikon sb24 ($80) and a 5m sync cord. Then went to wireless triggers.
These are both with the sync cord.
First stopping the action

and dragging the shutter

hi all,
just joined the forums as found it through googling for 10-20mm lens on crop sensor
Fokker - how are you finding that sigma 10-20mm on your crop sensor 400d? Is it wide enough (equiv to 16-32mm) at the wide end for landscape photography? I only ask, as I'm doing a once-in-a-lifetime trip to the Grand Canyon in Dec, and want to do the views justice :)
Thanks, and apologies for 'hi-jacking', but seemed best place to ask.
Cheers

10mm is just about as wide as you can get. Well it is for cropped sensors anyway so you dont have an option lol The only thing wider is a 15mm fisheye on a FF or the 14mm on a FF

Hi, thanks for the prompt reply
I'm aware that it is as wide as you can go on cropped sensor, but gotta decide whether to buy a insane wide angle for DSLR or buy a more modest angle, which does a wider angle of view, for my film 35mm camera.
Guess my main Q is whether the 10-20mm is wide enough on cropsensor or whether tis better to go a 10-20mm on 35mm film . . . aka does the crop factor "nullify' the extreme wide angle (a 16mm is still pretty wide eh?).
Also any experiences with the lens on a crop sensor would be good to hear (hence why i posted in Fokker's thread)
Cheers

Nathan,
Look for a wide lens that doesn't distort to much, then you can stitch images together.
The sigma 12-24 has very little distortion and is about as wide as you can go for a lens that will work on full frame cameras.

thanks for the advice. Hadnt thought about stitching, not sure why that slipped my mind, been using it for ages with my 28mm (which is almost 50mm on crop). Just fyi, the D60 isnt full frame, but i see your point that if, no when, i upgrade to a full frame, it will still be really useful :) In fact, even more useful than on a crop-sensor camera.
Now to try and find a spare $600-800 for a second hand one, thats the tricky bit - might have to whore my self out or sell my kit lens haha
Cheers
Nathan
