Hey, just thought I would start a thread on flowers. I know everyone had at least a few photos they have taken of the a sweet flower of two.
I dont think we have a flower thread on the site atm and coming into spring, it a good time to get the ball rolling...

Nice shots, I especially like the white orchids as there's bags of texture in the petals and the highlights are well-controlled. I like something other than pure black BGs for most flower shots, but that's a matter of preference.

Here's one I did with my then-new macro bought for a couple of hundy from TradeMe a couple of months ago.

orchids look really nice. havent shot one before cos i cant find any. they have this nice stance that maks them look great to photograph

Wow like the dof here a it super shallow, must be 2.8 or so. yea i shot these at my parents, beside a window, so using a plan bg works well cos i find quite often the bg can be distracting if there is too much going on. but with a macro as close as you have gone in there is hardly any bg...
