Does anyone do this? Does anyone know anyone who does this? I'm just about to put a winning bid on a Sinar large format camera and I'll probably need lots of hand-holding!

If you're in Southland, I'd be able to help.

Don't know if I got in too late to convince you to place that bid, but I'm a reasonably avid 4x5 shooter with both b+w (self developing and printing) and colour (looking into getting into developing and printing these too).

This year i started doing some work on a Linhof CS 679 with a Leaf Aptus Digital back, amazing what it can do!

My brother mentioned this in passing. It'd be awesome to see some results you get with this if you get the time. Even if they're just sample snapshots.

Im doing a full shoot on Monday with special effects make up and all (based on Sin City characters Nancy and Yellow Bastard). If they turn out ok i'll chuck them up after treatment, assigments due in 2 weeks so will be then :)

Well, I didn't win the camera in the end! Probably for the best - I'm not sure I'd have fit it in my bag. I'm still after a large format camera. Can anyone suggest anywhere in NZ that I might be able to pick one up from? Or is it a case of scouring trademe.co.nz?

Locally, trademe is the best bet, but they are few and far between. The best bet if you're somewhat in a hurry or get sick of waiting for one locally, is the classified ads either at APUG.org or largeformatphotography.info/forums (though you have to be signed up for 30 days before you can look). It's surprising just how many Speed Graphics turn up in the US in pristine condition.

If you are patient they come up for decent prices on trademe. I am currently in the process of making my own 4x5 view camera. Still a while away tho, too many other projects. Got the bellows and some other bits and pieces done.
