Keri said make him an offer.
As the lens is about $200 full-retail, and I've seen it parallel-import for $180, that gives you a starting point. If you offer too low he'll just say no ;)

Shall we just let the man try and sell his lens? I'm sure he has his reasons. I recently sold mine as I found I didn't use it after I got my 17-50. This lens is a great accompanyment to the Kit lens or its also great on full frame or film.

i just got a 17-50mm 2.8 which is fine for my needs.
it is a great lens and amazing sharp as people will tell you. I dont do portrates so I have no need for a 50mm prime as this stage.
It will go on trademe this weekend at $100 no reserve.

Saw one of these go on trademe the other day for $158. Madness - you can find it on the high street for $195 here in Wellington! I want one, but I don't want to pay more than 3/4 of new price for 2nd hand! Does this make me some kind of tight-wad? I'm thinking yes.

Great, great lens...My first purchase after upgrading the kit lens...And I look for any excuse to use it. Great portrait lens on a crop sensor body...
You here it quoted over and over again, but for good reason - so I'll say it again...
Hands down - THE best value for money Canon lens you can buy...
