Agreed on the lovely, simple but very clean composition on the last shot (Y)

Also quite like the glossy-reflections on the tarmac on #1

The lone tree. I love it. How about you show us a BW conversion? I think that would make a nice image.

Cheers guys, that last picture is one of my favourite out of all the photos Ive taken. I've been looking for a suitable spot for that kind of photo for a loong time. Its harder than you'd think to find clean even fields.

robo git: Good to hear you like the first one, I quite like that image and I think your the first person to agree with me :P
Its funny whenever I post up or email pics, people are completely divided as to which ones are their favourites, although the last pic above has been a pretty popular one.

Here is a quick BnW edit, its quite hard to stop the tree from dissapearing into the grassy hill so I had to pull heaps of the green channel, which darkened up the grass a lot. Personally I think the colours are very strong in the original, but each to their own :P

This is a slightly different view from the same time.

Also if anyone knows of a good source for a cheap ND grad setup I would be keen to know, the C-PL is a bit of a let down at wide angles.

robo git: Good to hear you like the first one, I quite like that image and I think your the first person to agree with me :P Perhaps not surprising I agree - I really dig high-contrast B&W and photos featuring reflections off irregular surfaces, so you've just hit two of my "I wanted to take that shot" buttons with that 'un ;)

Also if anyone knows of a good source for a cheap ND grad setup I would be keen to know, the C-PL is a bit of a let down at wide angles.Slightly more expensive in the short-term, cheaper if you've got a few lenses + HEAPS better quality (even the cheap off-brand stuff from the likes of Tian Ya): Get into the Cokin system - I use Cokin 'P' series for all of my filters except UV filters, but that's because the UV filters are mainly there to protect the lens.

Yeah I should have specified I meant a Cokin 'p' system heh. The screw on ND grads seem like a waste of time to me, who lets a filter determine their composition?

Interesting to see the stuff he is selling is exactly the same stuff I saw a few days ago on Ebay and wondered about its quality. Good to see it for sale in NZ must mean its not complete rubbish. You can get those bits a little cheaper off ebay but not a heap.

Cheers for that info smurff. You might have to go to a bellows style hood or something?

Will get the hood just to see what its like. . . $12 if if no good, ill just find some other use for it hahaha

how does the Cokin 'P' Square filter setup work in relation to using a lend hood??You don't use a hood, or you use the square Cokin hood. I haven't bothered getting the Cokin hood as the arbour (aka filter-holder) actually helps a bit there.

Set myself up with a ND2 Grad and a holder+ring for $27 NZD shipped from ebay. Same brand of filter as John Chalmers sells, and only $4 cheaper so he has a good price if you can't be bothered with international sellers. The holder was quite a bit cheaper tho, $9 NZD for ring and holder as opposed to $20.
