hi guys,
new to the site and I'm just getting into photography and I'm wanting a digital SLR that isn't too expensive or too hard out just an entry level one. I want one that can take a few bumps and not break and with good shutter speed. to take pictures of fast moving objects like in sport for example. not something too big either. I've had a look already and fujifilm cameras are real cheap and similar to other cameras with the same specs but higher branded cameras like cannon and Nikon but they are much more expensive. is there anything wrong with fujifilm cameras or are you just paying for the brand.
:)

whats your budget, don't think many on this site use fuji, I wouldn't use one for sports tho.

Fuji don't make DSLRs anymore. The last one they made was the S5 Pro which is a fantastic camera and a bit of a bargain if you can find one secondhand. I still use mine quite often.

As Tomberkley says though, it's not well suited to sport as it's very slow in comparison to most other DSLRs.

Let us know your budget and we'll be happy to be more help.

I've ordered from them a few times with no problems. With your budget I'd maybe have a look on Trade Me for something like an old Nikon D70. They can go for as little as $200. Then you have $400 to spend on lenses. A 50mm 1.8 is the best bargain that every photographer should get, and you'll still have change for a cheap zoom lens.

It depends on which type of sport you are trying to capture.
For your budget,Id go the Canon route, get a 20d which has good auto focus, 8mp, 5 fps and is quite ruggered. A good camera for the price.
As Lazlo said, get the 50f1.8 for about $150, which is a great lens, and gives you a fast shutter speed. After that, for your budget you are quite limited for lenses, all the lenses are "slow" or will give you a slowish shutter speed, al depending on ambient light.
