With warmer weather approaching and the prospect of foot traffic increasing I'm looking at getting back up to Auckland to do some street photography in and around the CBD. At this stage I'm considering the end of August or beginning of September as a suitable time. I still have current external commitments that require my attention but these will subside near the end of August. The best day that suits me is a Saturday with Sunday as my second choice. Though I might pop-up during the week, when ever I get the chance. Shooting both film and digital I'll be looking predominantly for no-flash-corner situations and documenting the effects of reflected light on people in those areas.

I know most of the buildings and the positions that are most effective for capturing no-flash-corner photography and these are all within walking distance of each other.
If you're interested in meeting-up, shooting some street photography and perhaps doing some chin wagging over a coffee or tea then let me know.

EDIT: Confirmed

Hello,
I stay in the CBD and I'd be keen for a meetup then (especially since I don't own a car and am unlikely to be able to get to any of the far away meetups. I just need to know the day about two weeks in advance so I can clear the day from work. Let me know what develops for sure, thanks.

Great Jaeming!
Lets see if anyone else wants to come along before we finalise dates and times. Warmer weather, longer hours of sunshine, more foot traffic.... sounds like street photographers paradise to me.

If you don't have the meet until 13th September, or failing that if you have another meet, I'd love to come along!

Great welly!
Thanks for voicing your interest. As I replied to Jaeming, lets see who else is interested and then we'll look at finalising a date. I'm definitely keen to participate in more meets than just the one. I was going to post notices for other street meets over a period of time (hence s t r e e t m e e t - #1) to create a kind-of-regularity members could participate in and get use to.

I would be keen but its a bit far for me, 6 hour drive and all :P Might be keen for some later in the year as I will be staying with my other half more often in Tokoroa which is a lot more reasonable.

Great Haim!
I'm use to shooting in the street by myself but, It always looks better when heaps of people are walking down Queen street with cameras instead of one or two. We have four penciled in so far, any other people interested?

Unexpectedly but enjoyably I ended up in Auckland doing some street photograhy around the CBD yesterday. I know its short notice but I'm going back there today with my daughters. There were lots of camera's out and about yesterday so if there's nothing good on TV, the DVD is broken and The Edge continues to let Dom Harvey spout on about nothing in particular, come out for a stroll. I'll be the guy with the black Fancier backpack. I'll have a F100 in my hands and a D200 slung over my shoulder or vice-versa. Feel free to tap me on the shoulder and say Hi.

Like yesterday, I'm hoping the sun hangs around today....

I live in Palmy most of the time. Stay in Tokoroa every fortnight or so. Was actually in Auckland yesterday heh. Got some awesome sunset pics from just north of Paeroa too. Lots of driving :(

Good to hear your out and about ndiginz, post up some results when you process your film!

Only four of us have voiced an interest in this meet so far and to give Jaeming enough warning to organise his work commitments I think we should try and agree on a date and time now. I was in Auckland Sunday just gone and the foot traffic was in my opinion rather light compared with the previous Saturday. I'm suggesting we make it a Saturday to utilise the greater population of people on the street. And hope the weather stays fine and sunny.
August 29th, September 5th and September 12th are the Saturday dates I had in mind. I suggest if Saturday is rained out we use the following Saturday as the alternative meet day. I suggest we meet at Starbucks at the SkyCity food court between 10:00 and 10:30am, what do you guys think? And what's your preferred Saturday?

I'll probably have to drop out of this. I get into Auckland on the 13th and will be in Auckland for the following week. If anyone is about and wants to show someone new to the city some good photo spots, that would be ace!

A Saturday in early September is looking more and more like the most suitable time for me now with external commtiments have grown for me. So who can make Saturday 12th September with Sunday 13th September as the rained-out option?

Welcome Scotty. Look forward to meeting you and some others on this or another street meet.

Hi All
Creep & Nathan by all means come along if you're not busy, the more camera's out-and-about-together the merrier. It's a great way to meet new and like-minded people in the process.

I'm afraid I can't gaurantee that I'll be able to make this meet now. I've been been sick for about a four days now with a throat infection I just can't seem to get rid of. The worse part is, I have developed flu symptoms and have about as much energy as a cow patty. In between drifting in and out of sleep, headaches thump in my head and the pain from coughing in my abdomen and sneezing in my throat have me feeling like death would be a welcomed relief. Presently, energy to do anything at is an all time low and as much I want to, if I don't get better rapidly I doubt I'll have much energy and stamina to walk around the Auckland CBD, let alone drive safely to Auckland.

If I think I can walk for a couple of three hours and Im not breaking out in cold sweats, coughing like a 3 pack-a-day-smoker, and sneezing like I have a vacumn bag stuck to my top lip, I'll most probably be there. In the meantime just letting those of you that are coming now there's a chance I might not be there, but I confirm that later in the week.

At least all that rain and wind we had been experiencing has found somewhere else to be.

Sorry guys, I won't be there tomorrow. Feeling better, but nowhere near, well enough to drive to Auckland and then walk around the CBD. I do hope those of you who voiced an interest do still meet-up though and you have some fine weather.
