just saw the news update from nikon, nikon are releasing a few interesting products including the new D300s, D3000 (both with HD video), af-s dx 18-200 ED VR II, and lastly, the long waiting AF-S 70-200mm f/2.8G ED VR II.

i am very interested to see what the new 70-200 will be like, and hopefully nikon get it right this time for the fx format!!

more details on nikon website: http://nikon.com/

the long waiting AF-S 70-200mm f/2.8G ED VR II.
I wonder how this would compare to the Canon 70-200mm IS f/2.8.

what's the problem with the current 70-200? is there some issue when using it with the FX format?

I get some vignetting with mine on a D3, which I don't hate, but I'd rather it wasnt there, ahahaha.

I'd expect it to be considerably better! (Y)

yip it's not that great on full frame when it's wide open......i'm most probably getting the new 70-200afs.......... just need to wait for the first review to come out for me to order.... it's either this or EGD's 80-200 afs :) :P

yep it vignettes on a FF. Its great on a 1.5 cropped sensor. I have the previous lens an 80-200 F 2.8 and its great on both but doesn't have VR...and I am not bothered.
