i think this would be a good function, especially if someone want to just keep one pic thread and keep updating with different contents. at the moment once the thread has been created you can't change the thread title.

you should be able to do this now by going into edit your own post then "go advanced" and change the title of the post (if it is the first post it should change the thread title).

Let me know if this works or not.

It works now, what you do is double click on the same row as your thread title, then a box will open and allow you to edit the title. This is within the forum view of all the threads in that subforum.

It should also work the first way i explained as well now.

Hi,

I definately agree with having the ability to change thread titles. (Sorry about this, a lot of the forum's functionality is straight out of the box from VBulletin)

I guess the only concern I have is when users have a whole massive thread dedicated to all their photos that they are continually updating.

The reasons being:

When you have a massive long thread, it's hard for other members to navigate through your entire thread to view what they want to view. People only want to see what they want to see. E.g. if you have cars, flowers, people, dogs all in one massive thread it's going to make it difficult for people who are only interested in certain types or themes of photos -- this is why we have the different categories for photo sharing. This may be ok in other types of forums, but since we are a photography dedicated forum I believe it's not an approach we take.
A huge amount of photos per thread means the pages load a lot slower for the the viewer.
People's comments and critiques get very messy when you have multiple sets in a thread. Say for example you had a photo I wanted to comment on and it's on page 2 of your thread and the thread is already 10 pages long, my comment will obviously be at the end of the thread people may have to navigate back and forth to reference the comment to the photo. Also this encourages people to quote photos which is not ideal.
I hate setting rules on forums and I'm not going to. I always believe a forum should be driven by what the members want to do, within reason.

Hence, we are not going to stop people from having a "This is a huge giant thread of all my photos" type thread, but we would strongly recommend you do not do this, for the benefit of yourself and also in consideration of others.

Your thoughts are welcome. I like to see what others think about this

Cheers,
Talan
