OH MY GOSH I JUST BROKE MY 580EX - need parts advice!!!

Hi y'all

So I have just had a horrible accident and my 580exII has broken :(

The bottom section containing the flash screw has broken off - the screws have ripped right through the plastic.

Have been googling but can't find anyone who even sells canon parts here in nz - does anyone have any ideas? I will call Canon on Monday morning and try see if they can sort the part.

Eeeeeekkkk need it for a shoot on Tuesday and totally not keen to pay $60 to hire one for a day....

ohhh thats not good :( sorry to hear.

so the flash foot is broken? i have heard this happens a bit on some other forum, but there all in the states, so they can get a replacement foot assembly easy.

us however, im not sure you will have much luck

try canon, see what they say, the may say they want you to send the flash to them, if this is the case, theres no way you will be able to have it repaired in time :(

Cheers Smurff! Plan to ring them first thing Monday morning...yeah I too found plenty of US links...and replacement parts which I can buy online but guess time is the issue - but all else failing will rent a flash for a day and let Canon sort it!! Is actually only a plug in and screw on part as the part comes all wired up ready to go, super simple 2 minute job.... just gotta find the part!
Will post some photos tomorrow when the sun is shining as my flash is in pieces!!! LOL

Thats not good. Hope you are able to get new bits. Adivse to google for parts, there are a number of websites that specifically do parts.

Guy called Phil Jacobs in Wellington who is great! Quite reasonably priced and does a very good job. He just fixed my two 580s that were playing up
