Rather than have a separate topic every time someone wants to post a pic or two.. I think it'd be cool to have a rolling topic, just so people can add one or two photos that might not be worthy of a separate thread.

So, to start off:

Very minimal post production work, an increase in -gamma and a slight adjustment in levels.

thanks for the critique, but the obstruction in front is stairs/bleachers and had to be shot that way to avoid direct sunlight hitting the hood.

here are a couple more from the set.

How come my reply to your post keeps coming up on.with my last reply to someone elses?

---------- Post added at 02:02 PM ---------- Previous post was at 02:01 PM ----------

Nice composition, though, if possible, it might have been better to have shot over or past the obstruction in front. Not a fan of the illusion of detail in the foreground. Really like the shadowed goal posts drawing out of the iris and the top of the frame, great parallels in relativity and occupation of space.

ndiginz and Nikon I missed those shots on the front page, great ones from both of you.

I have often looked at the sports fields over the road from my house and thought the lighting was good, but have never seen the right angle to shoot it. That shot gives me some inspiration.

Yeah I quite liked the isolation of the moment, the separation of light and dark and how one framed the other with the human interests defining the scene, highlighted on top of the green grass.
I've updated my original post (#3) to show the addition of a new photograph.

Yeah it reminds me a theater stage, how they are lit up in an otherwise dark room. Also links in to the players being at a practice for a bigger 'performance'. Nice.

The two others you have posted are good too, some quality work in this thread. That 2nd shot is good too Nikon, did anybody bother you while you were shooting there?

Had a chance to take my DP1 out daylight in the streets for the first time yesterday. Here are two street captures I liked:

Queen and Rutland is a corner I go to a lot, it has great potential all year round, in sunlight that is. That bottom one, is that a hip shot is it Jaeming?

Yep!, a sneaky shot straight from the hip ;)
I've gotten a little timid ever since getting yelled at and threatened by some lawyer lady not long ago (who incidently wasn't even in my frame). Need to get my street-photo confidence back.

I suspected it as a hip-shot, it has all the aesthetics of one from the incidental looking canted angle to the atypical framing to the slight motion blur. It's one-of-those-things getting yelled at, getting the stinkeye or worse in some cases, but she as a lawyer, should have known better. I know it doesn't ease the after-affects of a confrontation, verbal or physical but, you are well within your rights to photograph members of the public in a public environment, that includes the street.

I was in Auckland today actually. Kind of an on-the-spur-of-the-moment decision to go up today made this morning by my daughters more than by me. Got a few digital ones I like but I think[?] I did better with my F100.

EDIT: I've updated my original post (#3) to show the addition of a new photograph from today's outing in Auckland's CBD

Some more nice ones Nikon, its not like you're being discreet either, using a D3!
