For all the poor sods (like me) that can't afford a proper screen calibration device such as Spyder (http://spyder.datacolor.com/index_us.php) there is a method that you can use to calibrate your monitor by eye. Not the most accurate way but definately better than not calibrating your monitor at all.

You use something called Adobe Gamma which comes with Photoshop.

The video below shows how to do it. I highly recommend you do it if you cannot afford Spyder (http://spyder.datacolor.com/index_us.php) or other calibration devices
