Ive heard from a few other forums that the Canon 40d is being retired? Its not on the Canon website anymore also and from what ive heard, its being retired to make way for the 50d. Is this true?

Yes the 40d is being retired, the 50d has been out for a few months now, and the 60d will be out by the end of the year, along with the 1dmk4.
But don't worry your 40d will still do a very good job, and from my limited experience with both the 40d is a better camera than the 50d.
I'm looking for a 1d , and thats been retired for 5 years at least, but is still a smoking camera.

Hi redal
If they retire a camera, I assume that it becomes harder to find new? Will this mean it will go up in price? I got my 40d about 3 monthes ago for around 1500 with a 18-55mm.
Are you having problems finding a new 1d?
Just interested I guess!
Cheers
Tom

Tom,
It will make it cheaper and easier to find a second hand 40d, as we all know ,to be a good photographer you have to have the latest camera :)
I don't want a new 1d , i am looking for an old classic 1D mk1 , i just loved the 1/500 sync speed of the camera , great for outdoor strobe work in the middle of the day. And for 4mp you can get great looking photos upto A1 with ease.
