Some of you might know that I went down to Christchurch for some photoshoot lastweek. except from the cold and wet southern winter nights, it was overall a really good trip.

frist night was pissing down with heavy rain and i had 3 cars scheduled to shoot so locations were pretty much all limited to under ground car parks.

here is the first set, i will slowly working through the rest and uploading them during the next few days.

more?

first three look funny with the angle... :S also since its a championship white car i think the white balance isnt right, check this out ( this is a little more saturated...... )

looking back at the photos again.... i actually quite like the second one... i just think that you should have put more light on the botten/windscreen... would have made it look heaps better...

true true, the white balance got trickd when we had the head lights on, i actually quite like the first two angle tho, especially the 2nd one:p. oh and a lot more to come soon from different cars.

put more light on the bonnet and warm it up a bit?

cheers, i used quite a few different lens through out the shoot, first few were done with either the nikon af-s 80-200 f2.8 or the tamron 90 f2.8.

the wheels and engine shots were done with nikon 24-70 f2.8.

Very cool.

I gotta ask, what is with the Green and Yellow vinyl on the back?

My EF9 had one stuffed under the carpet in the boot (magnetic backed) and the Japanese road code that was in my CA1 has pictures of it as well.

hmmm yeah.... play with the white balance in capture NX once you see the champ white then saturate it just a LITTLE then i think you will get the way it looks for real....

i also see that there are some reflections from the windscreen so the following comment will be based on my assumption.

You should have pointed the light or just one of them to the ceiling.... this will diffuse the light and then make the outline of the car and especially the windscreen reflect the shape of the car which I think is important! so yeah... i hope i helped you my friend....

ALSO if this sounded too hurting in a bad way just know that i actually quite like the second one just think that the color/white balance should be corrected. any way good shit david... considering the pressure and circumstances you were under when you were down there.....

( the second attempt at it was good in your second post....brightness wise...... )

They look pretty good David. Was awesome to meet you thanks for letting me have play with your baby (camera!) haha. Was great fun and I learnt a bit from you too which was nice. I am SO envious of your lens! I want it! Look forward to seeing me pics.

haim:

sweet as man, i always look forward to your comments and thats what internet forums are good for i guess :)

i can't run the capture nx on my pc anymore, as i am running the vista 64bits and i had no luck installing it after one of the major update. i am stucked with cs4 now i guess.

i really need to get both of my monitor calibrated, as colour are showing differently on my two monitors, so often i have to guess between the two.

i see what you meant by having a light on the ceiling, it would certainly help with more even lid lighting on the car, but i don't think it would lead to the same pic (dark background and floor) as the ceiling was very low, and had a lot of distraction items hence i went with the dark background.

----------------------------------

nice to meet you too Harriet, and thanks a lot for showing us around.

will process the rest of shots sometimes this week, so hopefully won't be too long :)

I did a little digging, its the Japanese equivilant of an L plate: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shoshinsha_mark

No wonder the synchros in my EF9 failed.

Other than the WB not matching between 1 and 2, I actaully don't mind it being a little blue in the second one.
It helps put the car in its location, which is an evironment with no, or limited natural light, so I expect the car to have a slight colour cast.

The perfect WB is a bit like the perfect exposure. It is what ever works, and it is different for everyone.

Cheers Moppie.

here is the second set, location was the same as the first set, so some shots were a bit boring.

No wakaba is like a sign telling people you are a learner or new driver or something like that.

Nice images once again!
