Sigma 80-400 APO OS DG EX

Hi I'm new to this forum and I have problem with Sigma 80-400 APO OS DG EX regarding about picture is blurred. So I searching in net and found this forum hopefully I can get help from within NZ. When I use Sigma 80-400 APO OS DG EX which I just bought I expect very much for this len. But when I tried I can not get sharp and clear picture. I use tripod, f8. But picture is too soft, not focus and no contrast. But 80-100mm range I got sharp and clear picture. I might need method to how to use this len. May be len problem or my fault? Need advices? What camera are you using it on ?

Couple of things to check for

- Does the auto focus work?
-When on a tripod have you turn image stabilizer off
-Use self timer or shutter release when needed ( long focal lengths )

-Make sure the glass is clean of dust , fog ( use a lens cloth or lens paper )

Nikon D1X and D2X. Len clean. Auto focus work. Yes OS off when using tripod.Also using selftimer. But yestarday cloudy. I not try sunny day yet. Just got len 2 days ago. I might need to know how to use len properly. Normally when I use 70-300 Nikor len so far no problem. Now I try to buy monopod. Any suggestion? Thanks Moe

were did you buy it from? if there local take it back and see if you can test with another one, maybe faulty?
