hey, just wondering, where do you mount the rig? can't see any arms or anything coming from the car, did you photoshop them out? photo's look awesome!

Nice work, shame the cars are nothing special though.
You got some great angles on them, and they are nice and sharp.
Did you build your own rig?
(and, on the second shot of the 520, I can see where you cloned out the rig)

I have a single arm mount with two cups which are attached to the car to hold it steady. From there take a couple exposures and then photoshop them together.

All images were off a rig :)

Thanks!! Haha I was a little slack on the photoshop on that front and I can see were they were photoshoped out on all images! I think I might just redo that one! :)
Thanks for your comments!! Feel free to upload your own rig photos or ones you like, always good to check out other styles!!

Have you tried using a longer arm so you can get the camera a little further away from the car and reduce some of the wide angle distortion?
That would also let you add a bit of variety, distort some, but not others etc.
I havn't shot anything automotive since the 2008 A1GP, been focusing on bipeds instead.

I have tried a using a longer arm yet I need to make it a bit stronger due to the weight of the camera. It is on my to do list along with everything else lol.
Thanks for your comments!! :) :)

It all depends on available light and effect, but most of the above images the car would be traveling between 5km-10kms... :)

I have just about finished building my rig, and ready to try and get some shots like these.
I was reading that most rig shots are done at walking speed and motor isnt going, is that how you do yours?

You won't find many rig shots done with the car being driven at speed.
Far to much movement and vibration to ever hope of getting a sharp image.
normally i have the car being driven tho, just very slow speed, between 5-10ks.
this one was done at around 10ks.

this one at 5 ks

it really depends on the ambient light you have, the longer the shutter speed you need, the slower the speed you go :)

some really nice shots, wondering if you could perhaps post up a pic of the rigs you use?
I do a fair bit of car photography, but haven't used this kindof set up.

I've had that happen just as it was taking a photo, the result is similar to a radial blur in PS :p

the toyota soarer is awesome, (the darker car), also the low front angle of the subaru is sweet man. im so keen to give this a try when i can afford a rig. and a 10-22mm lens would be nice
