Okay so I'm new here and to the photography scene. I have done quite a load of research towards the DSLR prosumer category for a camera and purchased a Sony A550 with the 18-55 lens that they come with. I'm really happy with the camera. One of the main selling points on the camera was that I could use all my dads old lenses that fit on his Minolta SLR film camera. Only to find out that they are mostly s7 mount. So until I can get a convertor ring they are pretty useless.

Now my question is, should I get;
Minolta 50mm f1.4
Minolta 75-300mm f4.5-5.6
Minolta 35-70mm f3.5-4.5
Tamron 55-200mm DI AF
Vitacon 70-210mm F4.5-5.6

I'm basically looking for the best out of those, I like the looks of the 50mm prime but it's not in good shape. I would ideally like a 28-70mm f1.2, but they are pretty expensive and kinda rare.

All input would be really helpful.

i guess it comes down to what type of photography you'll be doing?

I'll be doing a bit of action sports photography and I really enjoy the macro stuff too. But something with a bit of reach is going to be nice too. Got me a season pass to Ruapehu this winter.

then you'll need a fast telephoto, with an extender. i read someone here say that for snowboarding type of action photos, it's best to use a wide angle and really get close.

I don't think there's any such lens as a 28-70 f1.2. No zoom lenses are faster than f2.8.
