Hah, randomly I came across this yesterday as well. A lot of their sample photos are a bit average, especially some of the HDR's.

They need to be pretty average, to cover the pretty average money real estate agents want to pay.
No mater how good the images are, they will only pay so much, unless you can get into the 700k market, but even then the compensation is just a fill in to your main income.

How much do the agents pay, out of interest? Because shooting a house is a 1 hour job max, plus travel and processing time. If it was $200-$300 per house then it doesn't seem like a bad racket really.

Most agent around here don't want to pay more than $50-70 , until you get to the top end market.
They would prefer to pull out their P&S and snap off a few shots and then play with the highlight/shadow tool in PS than pay more than that.

It's a rip.

Someone has come up with an idea, but not the skills.

They have the business skills to set up the business and contacts, then get you to buy into a franchise (making them money), provide the top notch photographic skills while they make a nice cut and you make around 1/5th of what the job is actually worth.

To professionaly shoot an $800,000 - $1,000,000+ house, keeping in mind you'll make 2-3 trips, spend at least 2 hours there, talk with owners, work out the best angles, lighting, time of day etc..., then theres processing, finalised images on media...; is worth at least $1K. (Mind you, were talking waaaaay better work than these guys do).

I think, if memory serves me right, they were looking at approx $50 per shoot...almost enough to cover GAS!
