something I've been dabbling with for a wee while is IR shots - here's one from a couple of weeks ago:

thanks all - my efforts into IR involved buying a cheap Canon 10D (~$350 from memory) and pulling it apart to put in a Hoya R72 filter in place of the sensor's filter. Seems to work okay apart from the odd bump & scrape on the filter getting it all in, which just needs a bit of a clean-up when post processing.

sensor with coverplate screwheads sheared off (bit of trouble sorting that one, had to drill 'em out...)

also if you cant afford an extra camera to dismantle, you can get a IR filter..but that pic just makes me wanna pull apart a cam and do the conversion..

there's a wee plastic frame around the filter itself that the filter's glued to - it sandwiches between a metal frame and the sensor mounting. I didn't bother gluing the IR filter in and it hasn't fallen out yet...

and just got it cut to size by a local glazier (I bought two and couldn't easily cut it exactly the right size so gave up & had it done - had i known it would cost $10 to cut I wouldn't have bothered trying!)

LOL, I have already tried about 20 images from home.
We have a D70 for sale at the moment and I have considered the DIY on that.
