Hey guys, I am looking for a DSLR to upgrade from a point and shoot, I like all types of photography, but mostly action photography, and landscape photography, and I am looking for a relatively cheap camera, with everything I will need so I wont need to buy anything, so I thought I would consult you guys to get your opinions on whether this is a suitable camera for my needs.

best kit out of those 2 is probably the sigma, also has a reasonably nice looking F2.8 lens.
just dont actually know anything about sigma so cant give any advice :( also dont know to much about nikons hahaha

He is my take on both kits,
first the sigma, this would be a good kit if you wanted to do landscape/portrait photography, i have played with the sigma bodies and the auto focus is poor at tracking, also the lens in the kits are slow so will be not very good for sport let alone bikes. You are very limited in the future for upgrades.
I have used the d80 , but form my experience a 18-200 zoom would be to slow for shooting bikes in a forest environment.
For sport, you need a body with quite good auto focus and a lens to match, for a reasonable price you could be a Canon 20d ($500-600) and a 70-200f4 for about $1000, with this you can shoot quite tight.

i've got a Canon 20D + EF 28-135mm IS USM (brand new) lens for $1000 if you are interested.
i'd suggest a nikon D90 with a 50mm f/1.8 will get huge value from that. i'd look into canon also if i were you though.

I think this is perfect for you:

40d is a great body for shooting sports with 6.7 fps capture, reasonably good performance at 1600 ISO, and good AF. That lens should be good as well with f2.8 and useful zoom range. comes in under your price range too.
Also worth looking at:

I would steer well away from that sigma for what you need it for. Can't comment too much on the nikon as I don't keep up with their gears.
If you go for a canon, look for either a 20d, 30d or 40d as their higher frame rate and better AF will be invaluable when compared to the lower model rebels (300d, 350d, 400d, 450d, 500d, 550d ,1000d). If you get a body only and still need a lens, try starting out with the 50mm f1.8II which is only $190 new or around $120 second hand. Not the best for fast focusing but the wide aperture is invaluable. Otherwise try to find a fast zoom lens, and later on you will probably want to add a speedlite such as a 430ex or 55ex or 580ex.
